Limited value of Tagging feature#843

Hi Toby team,

I wanted to offer some honest feedback on the current tagging model.

Because tags can only be applied to collections and only function within a single space, they don’t provide much benefit for users who already rely on spaces as their primary organizational structure. In those cases, tags don’t offer an additional dimension for organizing or retrieving information since they can only be applied at the ‘group’ level. Typically, tagging is like ‘virtual’ groups so I really cannot see the value in this model.

As a result, tags feel most helpful only when a workspace is intentionally unstructured — which may not be the intended limitation.

If tags could work across spaces and/or apply at the individual item level, they would become a much more powerful tool for long-term organization and retrieval.
